Quick AnswerAjman trade license renewal in 2026: the AED 600 DED renewal fee and every line item around it, Chamber classes, lease attestation, late fines, steps.
Ajman trade license renewal in 2026 starts from an economic licence renewal fee of AED 600 at the Ajman Department of Economic Development (DED), and the DED's own service page adds AED 50 for the application, AED 350 for the trade name signboard permit, AED 200 for the commercial register, AED 200 for the unified economic activities register and AED 200 for the register certificate. On top of those line items you pay Ajman Chamber membership (AED 500 to AED 5,500 depending on class) and the Ajman Municipality attestation of your lease (10 percent of the rent with a minimum of AED 1,000 for non-citizen tenants). The DED gives you one month after expiry to renew; after that a monthly delay charge applies and any part of a month counts as a full month. The renewal itself is an e-service completed in about 10 minutes once the lease and approvals are in place.
This guide is for the owner of an existing Ajman mainland licence who wants to renew it correctly, on time and at the published price. It covers every fee line the DED lists, the Chamber classes, the lease attestation that most renewals fail on, the ICP establishment card that must follow, the federal tax deadlines that sit on the same calendar, and the decisions a founder has to make: one year or several, renew or cancel, do it alone or hand it to a consultant. If your licence was issued by Ajman Free Zone rather than the DED, the fees, portal and penalties are different and you want our separate Ajman Free Zone licence renewal guide.

Who issues the licence, and why that decides everything
Ajman has three licensing systems that people mix up. The Department of Economic Development licenses mainland businesses, which is what most shops, trading companies, contractors and service firms in Ajman hold. Ajman Free Zone and Ajman Media City Free Zone license companies inside their zones under their own rules. This article is about the first group: the DED licence, which is renewed through the DED e-services portal and attracts Ajman Chamber membership and an Ajman Municipality lease attestation.
That distinction matters for cost. A DED renewal is a stack of small government line items, most of which are fixed, plus two variable charges (Chamber class and lease attestation) that depend on your company. A free zone renewal is a single package price from the zone. If a consultant quotes you a flat "Ajman renewal" figure without asking which authority issued the licence, they are guessing.
The federal layer is the same for everyone. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) runs the establishment card that lets the company sponsor visas, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) runs work permits, and the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) runs corporate tax and VAT. All three check that the trade licence is valid before they will process anything for the company, which is why the DED renewal has to come first.
Ajman trade licence renewal fees in 2026: every line the DED publishes
The Ajman DED's Commercial License Renewal Service (service code DED01.003) lists its fees as individual items rather than a single price. This is the published schedule as it appears on the DED service page at the time of writing, in dirhams.
| Fee item on the DED renewal service | AED | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Economic licence renewal fee | 600 | The core renewal charge |
| Administrative services application | 50 | Per application |
| Permit to place a commercial name advertising banner (signboard) | 350 | Annual |
| Registration in the commercial register | 200 | Ajman government catalogue shows 100 |
| Registration in the unified economic activities register | 200 | Ajman government catalogue shows 10 |
| Commercial registration certificate | 200 | Printed register certificate |
| Community contribution to the CSR UAE Fund | 1,500 | Listed for companies and establishments |
| Publishing an LLC's official document through the Ministry of Economy | 3,000 | Listed; applies to LLC documents |
| Fixed-price contract documentation | by capital | Based on the capital stated in the contract |
| English translation of documents | 50 per page | Only where translation is required |
| Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry system fees | 500 to 5,500 | Collected with the renewal, by class |
Two things to read carefully. First, the DED page and the Ajman government service catalogue disagree on the two register fees (AED 200 and 200 on the DED page, AED 100 and 10 in the catalogue, which was last updated in August 2026). Both are official pages. The DED runs an online fee estimator for new and renewed licences, and the estimate it returns for your licence number is the figure to trust. Second, the CSR Fund contribution and the Ministry of Economy publication fee appear in the list but are not charged on every renewal. The CSR contribution attaches to companies rather than sole establishments in most cases, and the publication fee relates to LLC documents being amended or re-registered. Again, the estimator shows what applies to you.
For a simple sole establishment with no changes, the DED items above typically come to AED 1,600 before the Chamber fee and the lease attestation. That is the floor, not the budget. The next two sections are where the real variation sits.
The two variable charges: Chamber class and lease attestation
The DED line items are fixed. The two charges that move from company to company are the Ajman Chamber class and the Municipality attestation of the lease, and together they usually outweigh the AED 600 renewal fee several times over.
Ajman Chamber membership: the classes and what you pay
Every DED-licensed business in Ajman is a member of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chamber's published service list says membership renewal and the membership certificate are issued automatically when the licensing authority renews the licence. You do not file a separate application; the fee is collected in the same transaction, through the Ajman Pay platform.
| Ajman Chamber membership renewal | AED |
|---|---|
| DED-licensed establishment, Category 1 | 5,500 |
| DED-licensed establishment, Category 2 | 2,500 |
| DED-licensed establishment, Category 3 | 2,000 |
| DED-licensed establishment, Category 4 | 1,000 |
| DED-licensed establishment, Category 5 | 500 |
| Free zone establishment, Category A | 1,500 |
| Free zone establishment, Category B | 500 |
| Membership certificate (on request) | 100 |
| Amendment of membership data | 200 |
Your class is set by the Chamber from the licence type and legal form, and it is printed on your previous receipt. Most small sole establishments sit in the lower categories; limited liability companies with trading activities sit higher. If you are planning a legal form change or an activity upgrade at the same time as the renewal, check how it moves your Chamber class, because a jump from Category 4 to Category 2 adds AED 1,500 a year for as long as you hold the licence.
The lease attestation: where most Ajman renewals get stuck
The DED will not renew a licence without a valid lease contract attested by Ajman Municipality and Planning Department. The Ajman government service page for attesting a lease for economic activities sets the fee at 5 percent of the lease value with a minimum of AED 500 for citizens, and 10 percent of the lease value with a minimum of AED 1,000 for non-citizens, processed online through the Tasdeeq portal. The Municipality's own service pages describe the commercial rate as 5 percent of the annual rent with a minimum of AED 500 plus cleaning fees, so the two official sources differ. Budget the higher figure and confirm on Tasdeeq when you submit; the Ajman Municipality services directory is the authority's own listing.
Three documents go with the request: the attestation form, a no-objection certificate for sewage disposal, and a no-objection certificate from the cleaning company serving the area. The processing time is listed as 10 minutes once those are uploaded, but the two NOCs are what take the time, because each depends on the landlord's or building's own arrangements being current.
The sequencing rule is simple: attest the lease first, then renew the licence. If your tenancy expires before the licence does, renew the tenancy and re-attest before you touch the DED portal. And if you want a multi-year licence, you need a lease attested for the same number of years, because the DED cannot issue a licence term longer than the attested tenancy.
Step by step: renewing on the Ajman DED portal
The DED describes the renewal as an e-service with a delivery time of 10 minutes, and the Ajman government catalogue lists 15 minutes. Both are true for the final transaction. The work is in the preparation.
- Check the licence for violations and blocks. The DED's payment of fines service lets you view and settle any violations recorded against the establishment. Unpaid fines stop a renewal. The service is available until the licence expires, so clear it early.
- Renew and attest the lease. Tasdeeq attestation for economic activities, with the sewage and cleaning NOCs. Keep the attested PDF; the DED portal reads it from the Municipality system but you will need it for the bank and for ICP later.
- Collect external approvals. Activities the DED classes as high-risk need a no-objection letter from the regulating authority before renewal. Food, health, education, transport, security and some professional activities fall here. The approval has to be current, not the one from last year.
- Renew the parent licence first if you are a branch. The catalogue is explicit: in the case of a branch, the original licence must be renewed before the branch can be.
- Log in with UAE Pass on the DED e-services portal or the smart app, open the Commercial License Renewal Service, confirm the licence data, choose the term (one year, or more if the lease allows), and attach anything the system does not pull automatically.
- Pay by e-payment. The DED items and the Chamber fee are collected together. Download the renewed licence and the Chamber membership certificate.
- Update everyone who holds a copy of the old licence. The bank, ICP (for the establishment card), MOHRE, your landlord's file, your insurer and your corporate tax account with the FTA. A renewed licence that nobody else knows about still gets your visa application rejected.
If you prefer a counter, the Ajman government customer centres accept the licence application in person, but the payment and the attestation still run through the same electronic systems.
Late renewal: the one-month window and monthly fines
The DED service page lists two separate violations attached to renewal. The first is not renewing the licence within the prescribed time limit, which the page defines as one month from the licence expiry date. The second is delay in renewing the licence, charged for each month, with any part of a month counted as a full month. The page does not publish the dirham amount for either, and neither does the Ajman government catalogue. Third-party sites quote figures, but they are not the authority and we will not repeat them here.
What the structure tells you is enough to plan around. There is a 30-day window after expiry in which you can renew without a delay charge. From day 31 the meter runs monthly, and renewing on the second day of a month costs the same as renewing on the last day of it. So the decision rule is: renew before expiry, and if you have missed it, renew before the next month boundary rather than waiting for a convenient week.
The federal fines are published. ICP charges AED 100 for each month an establishment card is renewed more than 30 days late, capped at AED 1,000, and the card cannot be renewed at all while the trade licence is expired. So a licence that lapses for four months costs you four months of DED delay charges, then up to AED 400 at ICP, then whatever your visa renewals missed in the meantime. The lapse is always more expensive than the renewal.

After the DED: the ICP establishment card and MOHRE
A mainland Ajman company that sponsors residence visas holds an establishment card with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. The ICP renewal of establishment card service is granted only against a valid trade licence and only once any fines on the establishment are paid, which is why it is the step after the DED renewal, never before.
| ICP establishment card renewal (published) | AED |
|---|---|
| Application fee | 100 |
| Annual renewal fee (per year) | 100 |
| Renewal of the establishment's subscription in the electronic system | 1,000 |
| Smart service fee | 100 |
| Late renewal fine, per month after 30 days (capped at 1,000) | 100 |
| Changing establishment data without notifying ICP | 1,000 |
ICP lists a completion time of two days through the Smart Services portal with UAE Pass. The documents (trade licence, signature authorisation, memorandum for partnerships) are only requested if the integration with the DED fails to pull your data, so a freshly renewed DED licence usually flows through without uploads.
MOHRE sits beside this. Its work permit service requires that the company's trade licence is valid and free of violations, so a lapsed DED licence freezes hiring and work permit renewals for every employee. If you have staff whose permits expire in the same quarter as the licence, renew the licence first and keep a copy of the renewed PDF ready for each MOHRE application.
Two Noble Core add-ons sit in this stage on our published rate card: basic health insurance at AED 500 per person per year, which is a legal requirement for every sponsored employee, and a corporate bank account opening package at AED 800 for companies that need a new account after a change of bank. Neither is a government fee.
The tax calendar sits on the same renewal date
Renewal season is when founders discover that the FTA has its own expectations of an Ajman company. Three points to check while the licence is in hand.
Corporate tax registration. Every UAE company, including a small Ajman sole establishment, must be registered for corporate tax with the Federal Tax Authority regardless of whether it expects to pay the 9 percent rate above AED 375,000 of taxable income. Registration is free on the EmaraTax portal. The published administrative penalty for registering late is AED 10,000, so if your company has never registered, do it the same week as the licence renewal. Noble Core handles the registration for AED 400 on the rate card. The authority's own guidance is on the FTA website.
VAT. Registration becomes mandatory when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the previous twelve months or are expected to in the next thirty days; voluntary registration opens at AED 187,500. A business that has grown past the threshold during the licence year has to register, and renewal is the natural checkpoint. Our VAT registration service is AED 500.
Small business relief. Companies with revenue at or below AED 3 million in the relevant tax period can elect small business relief and pay no corporate tax for that period, but they still have to register and file. The election is made in the return, not by staying silent.
Keep your renewed licence, attested lease and Chamber certificate together, because the FTA can ask for all three when reviewing a registration or a refund, and the bank will ask for them at its next periodic review.
One year or four: how to choose the term
The DED's service page says a renewed licence is valid for a minimum of one calendar year and a maximum of four years if the renewal conditions are met; the Ajman government catalogue describes a range of one to three years. Either way, multi-year renewal is available and it is worth a clear-eyed decision rather than a default.
Choose a multi-year term when all of the following are true: the lease is attested for the same period, the activities and partners are settled, the Chamber class is one you are comfortable paying for each year up front, and cash is not tight. The benefit is operational rather than financial: no annual Tasdeeq cycle, no annual DED transaction, no risk of a missed window, and a licence that reads as stable to banks and large customers. Note that the ICP establishment card and the Chamber fee still run on their own cycles, and MOHRE still checks the licence date on every permit.
Choose one year when any of those conditions fails. A licence amendment inside a multi-year term (adding an activity, changing a partner, moving premises) usually means re-attesting the lease and paying the amendment fees anyway, which eats most of the convenience. And a founder who may convert the sole establishment into an LLC, open a Dubai branch or move into a free zone in the next eighteen months should not pre-pay three years of Ajman fees for a licence they intend to restructure.
Renew, cancel or move: the decisions to make before you pay
Some licences come up for renewal because the business is still running. Others come up because nobody has decided what to do with a company that stopped trading. The second group should not renew by reflex.
If the business has ceased, the correct route is cancellation through the DED, with the Chamber membership cancelled automatically when the licence is cancelled (the Chamber lists AED 500 for the cancellation service), the ICP establishment card cancelled, visas cancelled through the proper channels, and the FTA deregistration filed for corporate tax and, if registered, VAT. The cost of doing that properly is lower than two years of renewal fees plus delay fines on a licence that was never going to be used. It also protects the owner's record: an expired, uncancelled licence with accumulating fines follows the individual into their next UAE licence application.
If the business is dormant but you expect to reactivate it, renew for one year and keep the lease at the minimum size the DED accepts for the activity. Do not let the licence lapse "until we are ready", because the monthly delay charge means the restart costs more every month.
Ajman renewal compared with the other options you may be weighing
Founders who hold an Ajman DED licence sometimes ask at renewal whether they should be somewhere else. The honest comparison is not between headline prices but between total annual cost and what the licence lets you do.
An Ajman DED licence gives you a mainland licence with full access to UAE mainland customers, a physical address in Ajman, and the fee structure above: typically AED 1,600 in DED items, AED 500 to 5,500 of Chamber fee, and a lease attestation that scales with rent. A free zone licence in the same emirate renews as a single package (Ajman Free Zone renewals on the Noble Core rate card run from AED 5,555 with no visa to AED 24,252 with four), but a free zone company that wants to perform its activity physically on the mainland needs a mainland licence or branch in that emirate. A Dubai mainland licence from the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) costs more at every step and is only the right move if the business needs a Dubai address or Dubai-specific approvals.
The right question at renewal is therefore: where are my customers, where do my staff physically work, and does my current licence cover that. If the answer is "Ajman and the northern emirates, from our Ajman premises", the DED licence is the cheapest correct answer and you should renew it. If the answer has changed, talk to a consultant before the renewal date rather than after it, because a conversion or a second licence takes longer than a renewal.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Renewing the licence before attesting the lease. The DED portal rejects it, and by the time the Tasdeeq attestation is done the one-month window may have closed.
- Letting the landlord's NOCs lapse. The sewage disposal and cleaning company NOCs are the slow part of the attestation; start them a month before the lease expires.
- Treating the DED fee list as the total. The Chamber class and the lease attestation are routinely larger than the AED 600 renewal fee itself.
- Ignoring the two register fee figures. The DED page and the Ajman government catalogue differ; run the DED fee estimator for your licence and pay what it shows.
- Assuming a grace period beyond one month. The DED gives one month; after that every started month is a full month of delay charges.
- Renewing the branch before the parent. The catalogue requires the original licence to be renewed first.
- Forgetting the ICP establishment card. It cannot be renewed against an expired licence, and its own late fine starts 30 days after its expiry.
- Skipping corporate tax registration because the company is small. Registration is mandatory and the published late penalty is AED 10,000.
- Pre-paying a multi-year licence on a one-year lease. The licence term cannot exceed the attested tenancy.
- Leaving a dead company to lapse instead of cancelling it. Fines keep accruing, and the owner's record carries them.
- Using unofficial portals to pay. Payment runs through the DED e-services portal and Ajman Pay; a third-party site that asks for your UAE Pass details is a red flag.
What Noble Core does for you
Noble Core Ventures is an independent private business setup and corporate services consultancy, founded in 2020, with six offices across the UAE. We are not a government body and we do not issue licences; the Ajman DED, Ajman Municipality, the Ajman Chamber, ICP, MOHRE and the FTA do. What we do is run the whole renewal in the right order so that none of the deadlines above bites.
For an Ajman DED licence renewal we check the licence for violations and blocks, renew and attest the lease on Tasdeeq with the two NOCs, obtain any external approvals the activity needs, complete the DED renewal and Chamber payment, renew the ICP establishment card, and update the bank, MOHRE and the FTA with the new licence. If the company is not yet registered for corporate tax we do that at the same time (AED 400 on our rate card), and VAT registration is AED 500 where the threshold has been crossed. Government fees are paid at actual against the receipt and quoted to you up front, including the Chamber class and the attestation percentage, so there is no surprise charge at payment. Our service fee for the renewal itself is a fixed quote after we see the licence, because the work differs between a sole establishment with one activity and an LLC with external approvals.
If you are weighing renewal against cancellation, conversion to an LLC, or adding a Dubai or free zone licence alongside the Ajman one, we will give you the comparison in writing with the real fees for each route before you pay for anything.
Send us the licence copy on WhatsApp and we will come back with the renewal checklist and the quote the same working day: message Noble Core on WhatsApp or call +971 52 253 5694.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Ajman trade license renewal cost in 2026?
The Ajman Department of Economic Development lists an economic licence renewal fee of AED 600, plus AED 50 for the application, AED 350 for the signboard permit and AED 200 each for the commercial register, the unified activities register and the register certificate. Ajman Chamber membership (AED 500 to 5,500 by class) and the attested lease are charged on top. Confirm your exact total with the DED fee estimator.
What is the late fee for Ajman trade license renewal?
The DED service page lists two violations: failing to renew within the prescribed limit of one month from expiry, and a delay charge for every month after that, with any part of a month counted as a full month. The amounts are not published on the service page, so check your licence in the DED fines service or the fee estimator before paying.
Can I renew my Ajman trade licence online?
Yes. The renewal is an e-service on the Ajman DED portal and smart app. You log in with UAE Pass, submit the application with an attested lease contract and any external approvals, pay by e-payment and download the renewed licence. The DED lists a delivery time of 10 minutes once the lease and approvals are already in order.
What documents do I need to renew a trade licence in Ajman?
The Ajman government service catalogue lists a licence application, a valid lease contract attested by Ajman Municipality, external approvals where the activity requires them, and, for a branch, proof that the parent licence has been renewed first. High-risk activities need a no-objection letter from the authority that regulates them before the DED will release the renewal.
For how many years can an Ajman trade licence be renewed?
The DED’s own service page says a renewed licence is valid for a minimum of one calendar year and a maximum of four years, while the Ajman government catalogue describes one to three years. Multi-year renewal only makes sense when your lease is attested for the same period, because the licence term cannot run past the lease.
Does Ajman Chamber membership renew with the trade licence?
Yes. The Ajman Chamber states that membership renewal and the membership certificate are issued automatically when the licensing authority renews the licence. The fee is collected with the licence and depends on your class: AED 5,500, 2,500, 2,000, 1,000 or 500 for DED-licensed establishments, paid through Ajman Pay. A separate membership certificate costs AED 100.
How much is the lease contract attestation for a commercial unit in Ajman?
The Ajman government page for attesting a lease for economic activities gives 5 percent of the lease value with a minimum of AED 500 for citizens and 10 percent with a minimum of AED 1,000 for non-citizens, through the Tasdeeq portal. Ajman Municipality’s own service pages quote 5 percent plus cleaning fees, so confirm the figure on Tasdeeq before you budget.
Do I need to renew the establishment card as well?
If the company sponsors visas, yes. The ICP renewal of establishment card service requires a valid trade licence, so it runs after the DED renewal. ICP lists AED 100 application, AED 100 per year, AED 1,000 for the electronic subscription and AED 100 smart service fee, with a late fine of AED 100 per month after 30 days, capped at AED 1,000.
What happens if I do not renew my Ajman trade licence at all?
Monthly delay fines accumulate from the end of the one-month window, the establishment card and visas cannot be renewed, banks may restrict the account and MOHRE will not issue new work permits against an expired licence. If you have stopped trading, cancel the licence properly instead, because fines keep building on a licence that is simply left to lapse.
